Perspective Pt. I

Granted I am a vessel,
I am a product built solely for purpose.
A hollow container built not to swim depths,
but to float gently across the surface.
Engineered to take myself where the Earth and sky meet,
to be infinite and limitless,
but that's just not me.
Lay hands to my exterior,
speak words to my interior,
wildly alone in my own atmosphere.
I am an unfinished masterpiece that's no longer a project,
cracking at the bottom of the mantlepiece.
Know I'm trying my best to live with my guilt and my childish regrets.
Am I alive to survive and find that the grass isn't green on the other side?
This is me, right here,
and I am begging you to be saved.
Not by some 'saving grace',
just to be released from this pain.
You said I would never bear more than I can handle but God,
the flame has burnt to the bottom of this candle.
They say to give you a sample,
so here,
I am ashamed, forever unworthy and uncomfortable in my own skin,
and I have never heard a word, seen a light, or felt a shiver in my spine or a single comfort within.
Twist myself around the bend of what you expect,
while I tell myself the words you know you should've said.
Know I'm trying my best to live with my guilt and my childish regrets.
Am I alive to survive and find that the grass isn't green on the other side?
